14 Fun Things To Do in Sheffield for Adults

The South Yorkshire City of Sheffield is home to more than half a million people and has a great choice of things for adults to do.

Here are just a few of our favourites:

Locksley Distilling Co

Locksley Distilling Co is home to an exciting range of gins and liqueurs that gin enthusiasts will be keen to discover.

They've been distilling their unique gins in the lovely grade 2* listed Portland Works since 2015.

Now, they have opened up their distillery and welcome you with a range of tours and experiences.

There's a Distillery Tasting Visit, including a welcome G&T on arrival, a guided tour of the distillery, a guided tasting session, and a branded tumbler to take home. The tour takes about an hour and costs just £15 per person.

Alternatively, why not try their Gin Distilling Experience, and make your very own gin? You'll be welcomed with a selection of gin & tonics, have a tour of the distillery and guided tasting. But then you go to the Gin School where you can create your very own unique gin, using your choice from more than 100 botanicals.

You can then take home a full 70cl bottle of your gin to show off to your friends, and enjoy from your branded tumbler.

The hands-on Gin Distilling Experience takes about two and a half hours and costs £95 per person.

Battle Axe Sheffield

Release your inner Viking and have a go at Urban Axe Throwing - one of Britain's fastest-growing leisure activities.

It's a bit like playing darts - but with axes! First, there's a safety briefing to make sure the only thing with an axe sticking out of it is the target.

Then you'll learn how to throw an axe, before a tournament to see who's the champion axe-thrower in your team, and the chance to learn some trick shots. You can even try throwing two axes at once!

Sessions last about 70 minutes and are designed for axe-throwing beginners.

Soft drinks (no alcohol for obvious reasons) and snacks like crisps and chocolate are available to keep your energy levels up during your session.

The Climbing Works

If you're looking for a fun challenge, why not try bouldering at The Climbing Works?

Bouldering is indoor climbing without ropes. Each route is a problem that you have to solve by climbing to the top using only holds of one colour.

If you've climbed at a bouldering centre before and are confident you know the rules and can climb safely, you can supervise two novices.

Alternatively, there's an adult induction session which will tell you everything you need to know, and costs only £20.

On Monday evenings there are free coaching sessions which are the ideal follow-up to your induction and will show you the basics of good climbing techniques.
