10 Fun Things To Do in Aberdeen For Adults
Here's our compilation of the best things for adults to do in Aberdeen.
We've got all sorts of venues and activities such as a gin school, a comedy club and even a place to work off your frustrations by breaking things, so you'll never be bored in the Granite City!
City of Aberdeen Distillery and Gin School
There are three options to choose from - the Discovery Tour, the Gin Tasting Masterclass and the Gin School Experience.
The Discovery Tour lasts an hour and is a walking tour of the distillery with a double G&T as a welcome on arrival, and samples of Aberdeen Gin as you go round. With a goodie bag and a 5cl gin miniature to take home I would say that this tour is a bargain at £25 per person.
This tasting masterclass is £49 per person and includes a double G&T on arrival, samples throughout the masterclass and a final G&T of your choice.
If you want to learn how to make gin, you can join the 3-hour Gin School Experience, where firstly you will learn all about the origins of Gin, and tour the distillery to discover how Aberdeen Gin is made.
After that, you will distil your own bottle of gin in a copper alembic mini-still, and get a chance to sample some of the Aberdeen Gin range. Once your own gin is distilled and bottled, you'll enjoy a surprise cocktail to round off the day.
Aberdeenshire Castles, Cows and Whisky Day Trip
The tour includes visits to two castles (Dunnottar Castle and Crathes Castle or Drum Castle), a highland cow farm and a tasting tour of the Royal Lochnagar distillery.
His Majesty's Theatre - Behind the Scenes Tour & Shows
If you wonder what goes on behind the scenes at a major theatre like this, you can take one of the 90 minute public tours to get the full story.
The Locked Door Escape Games
The Locked Door is a small friendly Escape Games venue with four different games to play.
The four different games each have a different theme and difficulty level. All of the games, sets and props in the rooms are created specially by the talented staff at The Locked Door, so you know you'll be in for a unique experience.
The games are created for up to six players each, so if you've got a big group of friends you could book more than one room at the same time.
Amazing Street Art Walking Tour
This great self-guided walking tour, designed by Barry Pickard, will guide you around the fantastic street art that has been created in Aberdeen as part of the Open Doors and Nuart street art festivals.
The game maps make great use of the wonderful landscape that the venue is situated in - woodland, a mock fortress, an abandoned church, and a stagecoach standoff.
If you're into gaming, Belong Aberdeen is the perfect place for an afternoon's relaxation with your friends playing your favourite games.
You can hire the stations individually (for 1 to 7 hours) or you can book a party for 6 or 12 players, where the venue will set up a tournament of your favourite game for you to join (parties also include free slushies!).
The Blue Lamp Comedy Club
You can book a great night of comedy featuring Scotland's best comedians at this renowned Folk Music venue - look for the blue light when you get there as they don't have a name above the door!
The Wreck-it Room
You can book a package to match the size of your group - up to 4, up to 6, or up to 10, and turn up ready to wreck!
Codonas Amusement Park
If you want some good old-fashioned amusement park and fairground fun, head for the Aberdeen Beach Promenade and spend the day at Codonas Amusement Park.
There are lots of places to eat and drink at the park so you can easily spend the whole day there. The park opens at 10am each morning.
I hope we've found lots of interesting activities for you whilst you're in Aberdeen. I personally can't wait to tour the amazing street art and enjoy a show at His Majesty's Theatre next time I'm in the city.
