The popular seaside town of Blackpool has loads of attractions for families and children, but there are also lots of fun and exciting activities for adults too.

Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours

Re-live the golden age of tram travel on a Heritage Tram Tour. There are several tours available including:

  • Promenade Tour - a 1-hour tour of Blackpool's famous seafront.
  • Coastal Tour - a 2-hour tour taking in the Fylde Coast.
  • Illumination Tour - See the spectacular illuminations from an illuminated tram such as the Great Western Train or the HMS Blackpool. Runs from September to December.
  • Seasonal Themed Tours - such as a Fish & Chips Tour, atmospheric Evening Tour or a scary Ghost Tour.

The fleet of historic trams is between 50 and 100 years old and includes Illuminated Trams, Open-Top Trams, "Boats" and more.


The Blackpool Tower Eye

Blackpool Tower is the iconic 518-foot landmark visible throughout the town. Built in the style of the Eiffel Tower, it was completed in 1894.

The viewing area near the top of the tower, known as The Blackpool Tower Eye, offers stunning views of the north west of England.

On a clear day, you can see the Lake District, Liverpool and the Isle of Man.

If you're feeling brave, you can walk out onto the viewing platform, made of 5cm thick glass and look down to the promenade 380ft below.


Blackpool Zoo

A visit to Blackpool Zoo is a must for any animal lover.

Blackpool Zoo has an exciting collection from right across the world. There are over 1,000 mammals, birds and reptiles to see, from Giant Anteaters to Pelicans, Monkeys, Elephants, Tigers, Kangaroos and many more.

There's a great range of experiences on offer too, including Daily Talks and feeds, hands-on Animal Interactions or Keeper Courses where you can find out what it takes to be a zoo keeper.

When it's time for refreshment there's a range of cafes and kiosks offering everything from a great cup of coffee to ice cream, cakes and snacks or sandwiches and hot meals.


Blackpool Illuminations

From the end of August, for 66 nights, Blackpool is transformed by its world-famous illuminations, which have delighted visitors for more than 140 years.

An amazing six miles of festoons, tableaux and features light up the iconic promenade in what's sometimes called the greatest free light show on earth.

With illuminated tram tours, tower projections and more than a million lamps, Blackpool Illuminations are a spectacle you won't want to miss.


Madame Tussauds

A trip to Madame Tussauds to meet the stars (or at least their wax lookalikes) is always good fun.

You'll see all your favourite celebrities from the Royal Family to the worlds of entertainment, sport, music, film and politics.

North Pier

No trip to Blackpool would be complete without a visit to the iconic Grade II Listed North Pier.

There's an amusement arcade at the front of the pier.  Past the arcade, you can stroll more than 400 metres along the pier and enjoy the Victorian architecture created by designer Eugenius Birch.

North Pier Attractions include:

  • The Joe Longthorne Theatre which hosts an eclectic range of shows throughout the year.
  • The Bloom Bar is a luxurious lounge bar with great sea views and live DJs at the weekends.
  • The Garden has an outdoor cocktail and champagne bar featuring the original glass solarium and beautiful floral displays.

Viva! is a restaurant, show and party venue all in one.  There are lots of shows to choose from including the Viva! Spectacular, tributes to Elvis, Abba or The Bay City Rollers, movie sing-alongs, darts competitions and more.

The popular "Show & Dine" package includes three courses of classic dishes served with a variety of wines or alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, as well as great entertainment.

Blackpool Ghost Walk

He will guide you to some of Blackpool's most haunted locations and tell you their grizzly stories on this two-hour walking tour.

Showtown Museum

  • Illuminations - The spectacular story of the world-famous Blackpool Illuminations from the 1920s to the present day.

Funny Girls

Billed as the UK's premier Drag Show Extravaganza, Funny Girls has been entertaining audiences for 30 years.

Funny Girls is not a continuous show but has an opening number, followed by routines every 20 minutes before the half-hour spectacular Grand Finale.  Your host and DJ will keep you entertained throughout the evening.

The shows change with the seasons, but all feature amazing costumes and superb choreography.

Snorkel with Sharks at Sea Life Blackpool

Sea Life Blackpool offers one of the most memorable (and terrifying) experiences you can have anywhere - the chance to Snorkel with Sharks!

Groups of up to 4 people can take part, and the experience lasts 20 minutes.

No diving experience is needed - full instruction will be given by Sea Life's trained Aquarists.


Kings & Queens of Rock Pop & Roll

A spectacular multi-tribute show featuring top tribute acts to some of rock and pop's biggest names such as Elvis Presley, ABBA, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, Taylor Swift and more.

Full bar facilities are available during the show, with tables and chairs set out in cabaret style.


Escape Room Centre

Offering 8 themed escape rooms to choose from, the Escape Room Centre has something to challenge everyone.  Rooms include:

  • Grand School of Sorcery - This 90-minute game will transport you to the School of Sorcery to meet the headmaster Elijah Maelstrom.  Use the clues and solve the puzzles to find the Scrolls of Wizardry before the school bell rings.
  • Grimoire in the Attic - Find the ancient book of spells in the attic and escape.  This game is not suitable for under 14s or anyone with a pacemaker.
  • Secret of the Tomb -  You're about to enter a hidden room containing the ashes of a dead cult leader.  Find the urn before her son returns and finds you there.
  • The Bomb - Your team is an elite bomb disposal unit tasked with deactivating a bomb in Blackpool.  You have one hour.
  • Egyptian - Take on the ancient challenge from a pharaoh and escape his Pyramid of Mysteries within the hour or be entombed forever.
  • Get Me Out! - You've been kidnapped and handcuffed to a wall by Kaminsky - a disqualified doctor researching extreme pain.  This is the toughest game to beat - are you up to the challenge?
  • Secret Agent - Can you expose a KGB agent operating within MI6 before it's too late?
  • Eye of Fire - A 30-minute game where you must find a lost orange sapphire from the Peruvian jungle.


Clip 'n Climb Blackpool

Clip 'n Climb is a colourful venue where adults can experience the fun of indoor climbing.

There are 20 unique walls, each one presenting a different climbing challenge.

Clip 'n Climb also has a Vertical Drop Slide to test your courage, and the Stairway to Heaven which will challenge your balance and head for heights.

You'll get a harness fitting and safety briefing 15 minutes before your session, then 50 exciting minutes of climbing.

Clip 'n Climb is an ideal activity for corporate team-building days, or just groups of friends looking for a fun time.

Less than a mile from Blackpool Tower, FormulaKart's challenging 900m track is a must for thrill-seekers and motorsport enthusiasts.

Don't confuse this with indoor karting where maximum speeds are usually around 30mph.  FormulaKart's twin-engined karts are limited to 65mph, which looks even faster when you're sitting an inch off the ground!

Blackpool's first comedy club has been making audiences laugh since 2002.

Now located in Lancashire's only purpose-built comedy club, the Comedy Station has featured more than 5,000 comedians including many famous names like Jason Manford, Tape Face, Lee Nelson and more.

Current shows are Friday Night Laughs and Saturday Live as well as occasional shows on other nights - check the website for details.


Clue HQ

Conveniently located on Blackpool Promenade, Clue HQ has three exciting escape games to choose from:

  • Bunker 38 - Trapped in a nuclear bunker with only one hour of breathable air remaining, you need to find a way to escape - and fast!
  • A-I-9 - An artificial intelligence has gone rogue and you need to stop it before it destroys us all.
  • Cell Block C - Framed and imprisoned for a crime you didn't commit, you only have an hour to escape so you can prove your innocence.


Ascent Trampoline Park

Adults are welcome on All-in-One sessions at Ascent Trampoline Park.

Blackpool Tower Circus has a history of circus performances going back to 1894, with not one season missed!

Clowns "Mooky" and "Mr Boo" have a brand new show where they'll be introducing hand-picked acts from around the world.

You'll be wowed by the skills of the jugglers, the poise of the amazing acrobats and the daring of the stunt performers.

Spitfire Visitor Centre

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of a WWII RAF fighter squadron in Hangar 42 at Blackpool Airport.

Experience the atmosphere of the re-created operations and briefing room and get up close to the 5 Spitfire replicas, or even sit in the cockpit.  A collection of restored RAF airfield vehicles adds to the atmosphere.

Penny Farm

If you love horses, don't miss the chance to visit Penny Farm, home to more than 60 horses and ponies.

Walk around the undercover barn and find out about the horses, or have a guided tour with a volunteer.

There's a coffee shop with delicious homemade cakes, or for a special occasion, you could book an afternoon tea.

Penny Farm can host small events such as anniversary celebrations or baby showers, and catering can be provided.

Penny Farm is open on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays and booking in advance is essential.
