9 Fun Things To Do in Milton Keynes for Adults

The Buckinghamshire city of Milton Keynes, one of the 1960s new towns, is home to 230,000 people.

The city is known for its planned grid structure, its large parks and lakes, the extensive network of cycle paths and its excellent shopping centre.

There are lots of fun things to do for adults in Milton Keynes - here's a selection of some of our favourite activities:

Thrill seekers will find it hard to beat the fun and excitement of indoor skydiving at iFLY Milton Keynes.

If it's your first indoor skydiving experience, you'll have 1:1 instruction from an expert instructor.

After your pre-flight briefing, you'll really fly inside the 12ft diameter vertical wind tunnel with wind speeds of up to 165 mph.

You can add pictures or videos to your booking, and your flights will be captured for you to re-live, share on social media or use as your profile picture.

You can even book a VR skydive that combines an indoor skydive with the VR experience of jumping out of a plane!


Milton Keynes Wine School

If you've ever wanted to learn more about wine, or simply to find some new favourite wines, then you'll enjoy Milton Keynes Wine School.

Their "Introduction to Wine" evenings are a great place to start your journey and will show you how to choose better wines.

You'll taste 6 wines from around the world, you'll learn how to taste wine like a pro, and you'll be introduced to the main wine regions.

If you enjoy the Introduction to Wine, the Wine School has lots more advanced courses you can take including the internationally recognised WSET courses that will take you from beginner to wine expert.


Willen Observation Wheel

For stunning views across Willen Lake and the city of Milton Keynes, take a trip on the Willen Observation Wheel.

The wheel opened in September 2020, it's 36 metres (118 feet) high, your ride will take 8-10 minutes and you'll go round three times.

Willen Observation Wheel is open all year round. You don't have to book, but if you're planning to visit on a weekend or school holiday, booking is advised to guarantee your place.

Make sure your camera is charged up because you'll want to take lots of pictures of the wonderful views.


Willen Lake Watersports Centre

Willen Lake is home to a wide range of watersports activities and courses at the Willen Lake Watersports Centre.

Willen Lake is one of the UK's biggest cable wakeboarding centres, so you can learn the exciting sport of wakeboarding in a 90-minute beginners "Discover Wakeboarding" session, or try kneeboarding first.

Paddlesports on offer include kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding - the calm waters of the lake are the perfect place to learn.

Sailing tuition is also available, and the lake is a great place to learn windsurfing too.

The Watersports Centre has a range of clubs just for adults, with sessions throughout the season, so you can practice and improve the skills you've learned.

If you don't fancy serious watersports and just want to relax and enjoy the water, you can hire a swan or a flamingo and pedal your way around the lake enjoying the scenery.


Formula Fast

For those who enjoy speed and excitement, indoor karting with Formula Fast is ideal.

Their 500m circuit is one of the biggest indoor kart tracks in the UK, with lots of technical corners and overtaking opportunities that will test even the best driver's skills.

Karts are Sodi GT5 200cc machines, capable of up to 50mph with superb responsive handling drivers will love.

Adults can book a timed practice session that lasts 25 minutes and you don't need a large group - so it's ideal if you want to go alone or with a couple of mates.

You'll be ranked by fastest lap and you'll also receive a lap time analysis so you'll know where you could improve your times.


Treetop Extreme at Willen Lake

If you have a good head for heights (or you want to face your fears), Treetop Extreme at Willen Lake is a fun and exciting adventure that adults will love.

There are three levels of height and difficulty to choose from, so there will be a challenge just right for you.

"Explorer" is about 2.5 metres off the ground and is ideal for people who are nervous about heights or just want a fun experience.

"Adventure" is 4.5 metres off the ground and the challenges are a little more difficult too.

"Extreme" is a dizzying 10.5 metres from the ground and includes two zip wires. It's not for the faint-hearted!

All three levels include access to the 13-metre freefall simulator. "Adventure" and "Extreme" also include access to the climbing wall.


Paramount Parkour Academy

Ever seen people doing parkour - jumping and vaulting gracefully through the urban environment - and fancied having a go yourself?

Well, now you can learn how at Paramount Parkour Academy.

Paramount run adult beginner sessions twice a week that are ideal for grown-ups who want to give Parkour a try without lots of kids around showing how much easier it is for them!


Aqua Parcs

The Aqua Parcs water park on Willen Lake isn't just for kids - this super-sized inflatable obstacle course is more than challenging enough for adults to have a great time too.

Aqua Parcs is often hired for corporate team-building events where it helps to improve leadership skills, confidence and communication. Most of the time though, people just go along to have fun!

The course is over 400 metres long and has 30 challenging obstacles split into three sections, each offering a unique experience.

Your session includes wetsuit hire, a buoyancy aid, a 10-minute safety briefing and 50 action-packed minutes of fun on the floating obstacle course.

After your session, why not visit the nearby Lakeside Pub and Restaurant where you can re-live the thrills and spills of the day over a hot meal and a drink?


Special Ops Airsoft

Airsoft is a military simulation sport where you can take part in mock-combat operations with replica weapons and real military tactics.

Airsoft is more than just a game of tag - you role-play scenarios that change and evolve as you play - a bit like a battle re-enactment.

Special Ops Airsoft in Milton Keynes holds airsoft events every fortnight in a wooded arena within their 45-acre site known as The Jungle.

As the events take place outside, they recommend wearing old outdoor clothing and gloves, as you'll probably get muddy. Combat jackets are available to hire on-site.
