There's a world of underwater adventure just waiting to be discovered at the award-winning Blue Reef Aquarium in Tynemouth.
Explore the drama of the British coast, the underwater gardens of the Mediterranean and the dazzling beauty of a spectacular coral reef.
Living displays reveal the sheer variety of life in the deep; from adorable seals and otters to seahorses and graceful stingrays.
At the Aquarium's heart is a giant ocean tank where an underwater walkthrough tunnel offers incredibly close encounters with the stunning beauty of a tropical coral reef - home to hundreds of colourful fish and tropical sharks in all shapes and sizes.
Don't miss Blue Reef's amazing Seal Cove. Giant viewing panels and a ramped walkway provide visitors with an unrivalled opportunity to admire the seals' grace and agility from both above and below the waterline.
Meet the Monkeys at AMAZING AMAZON!
Step into the incredible world of the tropical rainforest with this stunning new Amazonian feature.
Meet our colony of adorable monkeys; including tiny pygmy marmosets and comical-looking cotton topped tamarins.
The new display is also home to a variety of brightly coloured exotic rainforest fish, a waterfall and a selection of living tropical plants.
NEW FOR 2012 - IGUANAS
Blue Reef's newest arrivals are a pair of giant green iguanas. The exotic reptiles, which can reach up to two metres in length when fully grown, are the stars of a new display which opened this year.
Penny and Reg, as they've been nicknamed, were used to going for regular walks at their previous home and keepers plan to keep up the routine at the aquarium, guaranteeing close encounters for visitors!
As well as innovative displays, informative daily talks and feeding demonstrations, there's an ever-changing programme of special events and exhibitions throughout the year from Pirates Weekends to Shark Week - check out www.bluereefaquarium.co.uk for full details.
