You’ll enjoy a fantastic day out with the animals at the Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife & Falconry Centre!
From majestic birds of prey to cute and cuddly meerkats and lemurs there’s something for all of the animal lovers in your family.
As you enter the park you will be given a timetable of all the special displays and animal encounters that are happening on the day you visit - you won’t want to miss any of them!
As well as the displays and animal encounters, there are lots of other animals to visit in their own habitats and enclosures at any time during the day.
Butterfly House
The Butterfly House is an indoor rainforest, where you can wander amongst the tropical animals. There are free-flying butterflies and tropical birds in the air, with green iguanas, ducks and terrapins roaming freely on the ground.
There are also enclosures with leaf cutter ants, marmoset monkies, chameleons, caterpillars, glow-in-the-dark scorpions and even spectacled caimans to name a few.
Meerkat Mansion
You can see meerkats and porcupines living in complete luxury at the Meerkat Mansion, which was specially built to allow the meerkats to behave as naturally as possible. You can purchase a pot of mealworms to feed them with so you can experience their inquisitive nature at close quarters.
If it’s cold or wet outside, the meerkats might be staying cuddled up in their underground den, but don’t worry - you can peep in through the windows and watch them all sleeping cosily.
Lemur Heights
There are two types of cuddly cute Lemur living at Lemur Heights - Ring-tailed Lemurs and Red Ruffed Lemurs.
You can watch them climbing and jumping around the trees and ropes in their huge outdoor area, and you can peek at them through the windows of their indoor enclosure if the weather isn’t so great outside!
Farm Barn
You’ll find all sorts of farmyard animals in the Farm Barn - goats, ducks, chickens, geese, giant rabbits and even a Shetland pony!
Otter Springs
The otters at Otter Springs are in paradise: a lovely waterfall, a stream to play in, a large pool to frolic in! You can watch them at paly in the outdoor area, or if they are inside, you can use the secret window and flick on the light to catch sight of them all cosy in their nest!
Parrots and Free-flying Birds
Have you ever seen a parrot riding a skateboard? Now’s your chance in the parrot display at the parrot aviary! You can watch all colours of parrots at home in their aviary, and showing off their skills in the Parrot Show.
There are lots of other birds on display in the free-flying Bird Display Area - macaws, birds of prey, a raven painting pictures and black kites that will swoop just inches from your nose!
Bird of Prey Centre
There are owls from all around the world in their specially constructed aviaries at the Bird of Prey Centre - snowy owls, barn owls, a great grey owl and even a ferruginous pygmy owl!
You’ll be able to meet one of them up close in the daily Owl Encounter.
Dinosaur Trail
Smaller kids will enjoy spotting all of the dinosaurs on the Dinosaur Trail. Apparently the dinosaurs have been trained not to bite!!
Facilities
The Butterfly Cafe has everything from freshly prepared meals to light bites, cakes and afternoon tea.
Alternatively, you can eat your own picnic in the indoor or outdoor picnic areas around the centre.
The outdoor Play Park has a sandpit area for 0-4 year olds, ride on tractors and electric cars, air cannons and a zip wire! Also you’ll find climbing areas, slides and a large Wet Sand Play area to entertain your kids.
If the rain falls, the kids can always keep dry and play in the activity centre, which has Air Hockey, puzzles and games, and even crafts and face painting!
