Things to do in Stretford, Greater Manchester
Modern Stretford is a town built mainly on the community forged by the workers of former Trafford Park stalwart GEC. Though not always noted for its picturesque views, Stretford boasts many public parks (e.g. Victoria, Longford, Moss) which are enjoyed by local residents.
Longford in particular is something the town-folk are rightly proud of. This is a large park incorporating an animal sanctuary, athletics stadium and tennis courts. It also used to be home to one of the royal family's many properties - Longford Hall. Though this was knocked down in the mid-nineties, you are still able to walk through the former grounds and intriguing gardens.
As for the rest of the town, there are comprehensive shopping facilities and various pubs. There are regeneration projects currently underway aimed at rejuvenating both the town and community spirit.
