Things to do in Oulton, Suffolk
The village of Oulton, adjacent to Oulton Broad, has its own Church, Doctors Surgery, Village Hall, Playing Field, a Public House, convenient shops and a frequent bus service.
The Oulton Broad is the Southern Gateway to the beautiful Norfolk Broads.
The large Broad has an assortment of Yachts, Speedboats etc. always in evidence, while pleasure craft provide interesting sightseeing trips.
The large Wherry Hotel is situated alongside the Broad near the 'Mutford loch' and the road bridge, which has to be raised periodically to let tall boats from Lowestoft or Lake Lothing through on to the Broad.
Nicholas Everitt park runs alongside the Broad providing, tennis court's, bowling green, a children's play area, fishing, a museum and a tea room.
The extensive grassed area has a bandstand, large trees, streams and ponds, not forgetting the flower gardens with car parks near and handy on Bridge Road, and for the very young there is a pets corner.
Bridge Road has various shops, public houses and a small Library.
Two railway stations are within easy reach, the North station to Norwich and the South to Ipswich, calling at intermediate stations en-route.
There are miles of scenic footpaths all suitable for a stroll or a hike.
