Things to do in Hythe, Kent |

Hythe is a member of the Cinque Port federation, Hythe today is a pleasant seaside town. Once a thriving port, the old town, separated from the sea as a result of silting, it now lies 1.5 km inland.
The town, and the Shorncliffe Battery, marks the start of the 50 km Royal Military Canal, built as a linear defence to repel the expected Napoleonic invasion.
Four castles lie within close proximity to Hythe, including the remains of the Roman Stutfall Castle. Near to Hythe is Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, open all year.
