Painshill Park is one of the most important 18th century landscapes in Europe. It was created by the Hon. Charles Hamilton between 1738 and 1773 as a series of subtle and surprising scenes. Within Painshill Park's 158 acres, the Hamilton Landscapes include a Gothic Temple, Chinese Bridge, Crystal Grotto, 18th century plantings, National Collection of American trees and shrubs, Turkish Tent, Gothic Tower, Hermitage, 2.5acre vineyard, Surrey's largest working Waterwheel, 14 acre Serpentine lake.
