Things to do in Silian, Ceredigion
Silian is a pretty village with the church nestling in a hollow behind a rushing stream and a group of cottages. There are some wonderful stained glass windows in the church of St Sulien, with an education theme and the prayer "Hail Mary full of grace". Behind the church is a footpath that can take the walker to Pont Creudyn. On the opposite side of the road is a steep hill where the children enjoy sledging in the snow.
The undulating landscape of Silian gives stunning views towards the Cambrian mountains. There is also a wonderful viewpoint at the highest point of this widespread and beautiful leafy village. If you go there in May the scent of bluebells is inspiring, as you look across the immaculate farms towards the Derry Ormonde tower at Betws Bledrws. You can walk (zig zag) down the hill and jump down into the lower road, returning to the viewpoint. Silian has been described as "Indian country"!
Silian has acres of common land and is largely unspoiled. In the summer ponies graze on the common and fields full of orchids can be found.
