Things to do in Bridgwater, Somerset
Bridgwater was once ranked fifth among Britain's ports, schooners and sailing barges filled the riverside docks.
Originally built to allow ships on the River Parrett a safe haven, the 
docks now welcome pleasure craft from the canal.
Discover the town's fine Georgian architecture in Castle Street, and the 14th-century church of St. Mary, which has fine screen work.
Bridgwater is 
the birthplace of Robert Blake, Cromwell's great admiral.
His home is now the Blake Museum.
Autumn visitors can catch the world-famous carnival, with its magnificent floats, in both Bridgwater and Taunton.
