Things to do in Bishop Auckland, County Durham

Bishop Auckland - Ancient and historic market town, seat of the Bishop of Durham since the 12th century. The largest town in the Wear Valley, lively, with good shopping and busy markets (Thursdays and Saturday). Good choice of cafes, pubs and hotels and many leisure facilities.

The French style Town Hall is a Grade I listed building situated in the Market Place. Auckland Castle located near the Market Place is situated in 800 acres of parkland which is open to the public.
