Sewerby Hall
The Hall was built by John Greame between 1714 and 1720. His successors added to the house and Sewerby Hall now has fine period rooms of the Georgian, Regency and Victorian eras, including a magnificent 19th century conservatory known as the Orangery.Sewerby Hall is also the Museum of East Yorkshire and features an East Yorkshire photography gallery, a display of regional history and the Yorkshire Showcase Gallery which has a varied exhibition programme of regional contemporary arts and crafts. There is also an Amy Johnson room displaying a collection of her awards, trophies and momentoes. The estate bought by Bridlington Corporation in 1934 was opened to the public on 1st June 1936 by Amy Johnson.

Test your bowling skills on the crown bowling green or just relax and spend a summer afternoon watching the skills displayed at weekend cricket matches held on the cliff top. Why not try our 10 hole pitch and put golf course. A challenging course suitable for both serious and recreational golfers. Alternatively the whole family will enjoy the ever popular 18 hole putting green. Main directions - if arriving from M62
1. Leave the M62 at junction 37, signposted Bridlington on the A614. 2. As you enter Bridlington you will come to a set of traffic lights. Up to your right you will see Bridlington Hospital. Continue straight ahead signposted Flamborough. 3. You will approach a double roundabout. Continue ahead at the first roundabout then take the 1st exit signposted Flamborough and Sewerby (B1255) on the second. At the mini roundabout (Friendly Forresters Pub & Co-op Supermarket up to your left) continue straight ahead along Martongate. 4. After approximately 1 mile you approach a sharp left turn (Marton Hall opposite), turn right into Church Lane. Sewerby Hall car park entrance is second left after Leys House on left hand side. Main directions - If arriving via A165 from Scarborough 1. From Scarborough follow the main A165 road signposted Bridlington. 2. Follow steps 3 and 4 above. Main Directions - If arriving via A1035/A165 from Beverley 1. From Beverley follow the A1035 to the Leven Bypass then take the A165 signposted Bridlington. 2. At the B&Q Superstore roundabout turn left over the railway bridge and continue up the A165 to traffic lights at top of Bessingby dual carriageway (Bridlington Hospital on your right). 3. Turn right at the traffic lights and follow steps 3 and 4 above. |
