Things to do in Long Bennington, Lincolnshire

Long Bennington is a small picturesque village which is only a short drive to both Newark and Grantham town. There is a river running through the village called the River Witham which on a clear day is delightful to stroll along, where you can see hundreds of small and some very large chubb.
There are 3 pubs in the village 2 of which serve food. The Wheatsheaf pub is great for a nice pint and a game of darts and The Reindeer is a beautiful pub which serves very good food. People travel from a long way to eat here. It is not open for Food on a Sunday only drinks.
There is a very good local Butchers in the village called Arnold and Son and they also stock fresh fruit and veg and all essentials. There is a post office/shop and a chip shop.
There are many good cycle routes around Long Bennington and the scenery and wildlife is stunning. A short ride from Long Bennington is Dry Doddington which also has a pub/restaurant called The Wheatsheaf and provides excellent eating.
Long Bennington is an ideal place to start and finish a walk, stopping in one of the three village pubs for refreshments after. There is also a monthly car boot sale on the village football ground which starts on 3rd May and is then on once a month.
We hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did the first time we came, so much we moved here.
