Things to do in Hardham, West Sussex |

In the village of Hardham you will find the tiny 11th century St. Botolph's Church. St. Botolph's contains one of the UK's earliest and most complete schemes of mediaeval wall paintings. Dating from the 12th century, scenes include the Annunciation, Visitation and Last Supper. The paintings are part of a nationally important group, executed by a single workshop which was active in a number of Sussex churches, including Clayton near Hurstpierpoint and Coombes near Steyning, where an Atlas figure strains to bear the weight of the chancel arch.
