Things to do in Croft, Leicestershire

Croft is a village of interest and character dominated by extensive quarry working which provide high quality granite. These workings are reputed to have been used for the Fosse Way.

Croft Hill a landmark of some significance in history. In ancient times the hill's distinctive shape rising straight up from the Soar Valley made it a focal point for gatherings of importance.

In the year 836, the King of Mercia held council on the hill and before that it must have been a vantage point for the Romans. Earlier still there is evidence of Bronze Age and Iron Age implements.
