Things to do in Church Stretton, Shropshire
Church Stretton's glorious setting in a narrow valley earned the name 'Little Switzerland' from the Victorians when they tried to establish it as a spa, and visitors today are still refreshed by its beauty.
This small resort and market town draw visitors to the famous 18-hole golf course, which claims to be the highest in England.
Set in the Long Mynd Hills it has some of the finest views in the country.
Walkers will enjoy the views from Carding Mill Valley, providing a fine walk to the heights of Long Mynd.
Another splendid walk leads you to the summit of Caer Caradoc, halfway down the heather-clad western slope of this 1506-foot hill is a cave where the British chieftain Caractacus made his last unsuccessful stand against the Romans.
