Boughton House
Boughton House is the Northamptonshire home of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry. The modest medieval buildings, originally purchased by the Montagu family in 1528, were transformed under their stewardship, making Boughton into one of the great houses of Europe.
The special attraction of Boughton lies in the harmonious blending of the superb collections of paintings, furniture, tapestries, needlework, carpets, porcelain, arms and silver, just as the artists, craftsmen and the discriminating collectors of the Montagu family over the generations intended.
From June, Boughton plays host to "The Music Party" a sepcial exhibition of works by Marcellus Laroon the Younger, an English Rococo Era Painter, (1679-1772). The exhibition will open every Sunday, 1pm -5pm, admission £3.00 and daily in August.
From May until the beginning of September, visitors are welcome to view the 18th century Walled Garden, which now has a sensory feature and wildlife garden, alongside the stunning, traditional herbaceous border. They may also walk in the Park and see the restored waterways and landscape features; during August, they can enjoy the treasure house, which is at the heart of Boughton.
No admission charge is made for wheelchair borne visitors and their assistant. Whilst most of the House and its facilities are accessible, a full tour of the House can include 72 steps. There is the opportunity to view rooms which may prove to be inaccessible, by visiting our interactive virtual tour in the computer suite, in the Gift Shop. The walled garden includes a newly completed sensory garden.
Stables Cafe
For Groups and during August, we provide a selection of traditional cooked lunches, hot and cold snacks and afternoon teas.
