Things to do in Innerleithen, Scottish Borders |
Innerleithen lies surrounded by the scenic hills and forest of the Tweed Valley.
The town was famed as a spa in the 19th century for the mineral spring of Doo's Well.
In 1823 Sir Walter Scott's novel 'St. Ronan's Well' was published, in which he associated the well in Innerleithen with the 8th century saint, and from then on the spring became known as St. Ronan's Well.
Today you can still sample the waters, visit the small interpretation centre and take tea on the Victorian veranda.
