In the heart of Pollok Country Park, this award-winning building contains a unique collection of art in a beautiful woodland setting.
Shipping magnate Sir William Burrell donated his internationally famous collection of over 8,000 works of art to Glasgow. His main interests were medieval Europe, Oriental art and European paintings, but he also bought items from ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece and Rome.
At the Burrell Collection you can see medieval tapestries, stained glass, furniture, armour, paintings and sculpture. There are works of art by Rembrant, Bellini and French Impressionists with exquisite Chinese and Oriental ceramics and a fine collection of sculpture, including works by Epstien and Rodin. You can also see reconstructions of rooms from Sir William's home at Hutton Castle.
