The Atkinson Art Gallery is now included within the new multi-art form venue called "The Atkinson" where there are temporary exhibitions, and displays of some of the permanent collection. Also a there is scheduled to be a museum opening at The Atkinson in Autumn 2014.
The permanent collection at The Atkinson includes nineteenth and twentieth century watercolours, as well as Victorian and twentieth century oil paintings. Exhibitions from the permanent collection are regularly shown.
The Gallery also has a temporary exhibition programme, providing an opportunity for visitors to see touring exhibitions and work by practicing contemporary artists. Every month the Gallery spotlights a work of art from its collection. A free talk about the artist and the work is given at the Gallery.
