Things to do in Edzell, Angus

Edzell has been described as the 'Jewel in the Crown of Angus', this beautiful village, entered via the 19th century Dalhousie Arch, lies between Strathmore and the Howe of the Mearns.

Edzell Muir and Pirner's Brig are favourite picnic spots and a riverside walk takes you through spectacular scenery, from Gannochy Bridge to the rocks of Solitude, where salmon leap to reach their spawning ground. Near a tributary of the North Esk known as the West water stands the ruined Edzell castle, with its fine Stirling tower and the bower used by Mary, Queen of Scots. The 17th century walled gardens are a riot of colour in the summer.
