An elegant Edwardian building houses one of the most interesting museum and art galleries in the South! Collections are diverse and include local history, archaeology and geology as well as ceramics and glass; also included are important collections of costume, art and juvenilia.
Permanent displays include two costume galleries, an archaeology gallery, a Victorian nursery and a Downland kitchen. The museum and art gallery organises up to fifteen temporary exhibitions a year in three galleries and a sculpture garden.
Museum staff regularly organise events to complement the exhibitions including demonstrations and talks. Special Saturdays are held every year; 'Touch Day', 'Art Day' and 'Textile Day'.
