Redruth's architecture bears testament to its rich mining history, celebrated each June with Murdoch Day festival. The town centre has a cinema and range of shops.
The granite tor of Carn Brea, crowned with a monument to mine owner Francis Basset overlooks Redruth. The Brea has panoramic views and was the site of a Stone Age hillfort and a renovated castle.
The area is circled by Great Flat Lode walking trail.

University of Exeter, Redruth - Displays of rocks and minerals from all over the world. Colourful interesting and educational. Exhibitions of pictures (changed every month) by artists in and around Cornwall. Coffee corner and shop make an enjoyable visit for all the family.
Mineral Tramways Discovery Centre - Explore Tin Mining Country. An introduction to the footpath network ,which retraces the Mineral Tramway routes between Hayle, Portreath and Devoran.
