At AboutBritain.com we are creating the definitive online resource for you to plan a day out, short break or holiday in Great Britain, whether you live here, or are travelling from overseas. We are building an unparalleled source of information, which is as enjoyable to browse as it is informative. Not just a database with a search button, a resource that you can read for pleasure as well as for research.
Some tourism sites claim to list a zillion tourist attractions, but you soon find they are little more than a list of names and addresses. AboutBritain.com has more to offer: Most of the attractions on the site have photographs, with descriptions, contact details, admission charges, directions and maps. We let you know about other attractions in the vicinity, and even provide accommodation options.
AboutBritain.com went live on 24th May 1999 after 6 months of design and development. Work to expand and enhance the site has continued ever since and AboutBritain.com currently incorporates information on over 1,200 tourist attractions, 500 towns and 1,000 hotels, with new information and features being added all the time.
We were inspired to create AboutBritain.com by the beauty of the British Countryside, the magnificence of British Stately Homes and the fascinating diversity of British Museums.
We're excited about showing the best that Britain has to offer - the hundreds of things that you can see and do throughout our amazing country.

The Team:
AboutBritain.com is being developed by a team of 7 people, all of whom work from home at various locations throughout the UK.
Excelsior is one of the new breed of "virtual companies" made possible by the Internet. Having escaped from the rat-race, the co-founders run the company from the peaceful surroundings of their home in the Scottish Borders.
