mima is a bold new gallery of modern and contemporary art designed by Erick van Egeraat Associated Architects.
Located in the heart of Middlesbrough the gallery brings together the town's art collections for the first time. mima hosts temporary exhibitions of fine art and craft from 1900 to now.
Featuring the work of internationally acclaimed artists, the programme includes painting, drawing, ceramics, jewellery design, sound, film, mixed media, photography and sculpture.
Exhibitions change every quarter.

You'll find us in the heart of Middlesbrough between two of the town's best-loved landmarks - the historic Carnegie Library and Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen's sculpture Bottle of Notes. Perfect neighbours for an institution whose art collections span from 1900 to the present day. We're easy to get to. By road, by train or by aeroplane. We're easy to get to. By road, by train or by aeroplane By road: From the A19 North, take the A66 and follow signs for Middlesbrough. Leave the A66 at the exit signed for the University of Teesside. At the round-a-bout take the 2nd exit onto Marton Road (cineworld and pizza hut are on your left). At the crossroad turn right onto Borough road. Continue down Borough road and turn right into Melrose Street and follow the road round the bend. Our car park is on your right. From the A19 South, take the A66 and follow signs for Middlesbrough. By air: Durham Tees Valley International Airport is 20 minutes away from mima. By train: Middlesbrough train station is a short 10 minute walk to mima. As you leave the train station turn left and walk down to Albert Road. Then turn right and walk towards the town centre. We are situated on your left, a short 5 -10 minute walk. By foot: The main entrance to visitors is Via centre square facing Albert Road. Parking: Paid parking is available at the back of mima (free to disabled badge holders) with additional parking on Wilson Street. The entrance to the car park from Melrose Street/Grange Road via Borough Road. There is plenty of additional parking within a five minute walk of the building. mima Short Stay Car Park Fees:£2.10 for 2 hours and £2.10 per hour thereafter. 8 am - 6pm Mon-Sat (including bank holidays) £1.20 all Day Sunday Motorcycles and blue badge are FREE |
