Hunstanton Tourist Information |
|
Hunstanton's clean and safe beach is ideal for family holidays, and a short walk northwards along the shore brings visitors to the town's famous striped cliffs. Eroded by the sea, the cliffs now reveal multi-coloured layers of rock, white chalk, red chalk and brown sand stone (carrstone). As the only west-facing resort on the east coast of Britain 'Sunny Hunny' basks in sunshine long after the bustle on the prom has quietened down. Long balmy summer evenings lend a romantic atmosphere to this otherwise lively resort, and the beach, gardens and cliff top provide a backdrop for some truly spectacular sunsets. Built mostly in warm Norfolk carrstone, Hunstanton is an attractive Victorian town with a friendly holiday atmosphere. It is clean, tidy and welcoming - winning Seaside Awards for cleanliness and amenities, for the past seven years - and offers plenty for those The town centre and sea front are both easily accessible to disabled visitors. New to Hunstanton is a specially designed 'Sensory Garden', with opportunities to touch, hear and smell the plants and sculptures. The Oasis Leisure centre, with its will equipped fitness suite, has a tropically heated pool with aqua-slide, giant inflatables, floats and jacuzzi, it also offers roller skating, bowls and squash, and a soft play area for toddlers. In summer a colourful tractor Train carries visitors the length of the seafront, a favourite with all ages. Sea Life Aquarium, where diver's eye viewing tanks, a touch pool and an underwater tunnel bring visitors face to face with an amazing collection of sea creatures, and there are regular talks and feeding displays at the seal hospital.
