North Creake Tourist Information |
|
On the face of it North Creake is an ordinary North Norfolk Village, just a point on the journey to the more lively and popular Burnham Market 3 miles away. But take the time out to stop and explore the village and you will find plenty to see and do. Entering the village from the south on the B1355 you will first encounter the imposing church of St. Mary. The church is a magnificent 15th century building with some parts dating from the 14th century. The village has a post office on the right hand side and a little further on is the friendly village pub The Jolly Farmers serving good food, wine and beer. Turn left here on to West Street and a few doors down on the right is Mill House with its very own windmill in the back garden. It is just visible from the road and is privately owned so not open to visitors. Further along West Street is the village duck pond where you can relax and watch the ducks going about their business. Back on the main road you will find as you leave the village signs for Creake Abbey and Creake Abbey Studios. The Abbey itself is an impressive ruin of a fourteenth century place of worship and well worth a look. The studios boasts a cafe, delicatessen, and several gift shops and photographic/painting studios. Here they hold a great farmers market on the first Saturday of every month. It goes without saying that there are plenty of nice country walks in the area and if you find yourself looking for a relaxing place for a holiday then you would not go far wrong in choosing North Creake with its easy access to the North Norfolk Coast and all that is on offer there.
