The Story of historic St Albans from the departure of the Romans to the present day.
At the Museum of St Albans you can discover the fascinating story of our historic cathedral city. This grew up around the great medieval abbey, a place of pilgrimage. The rise of St Albans from a market town and coaching centre to a modern commuter city is told through lively displays using the Museum's collections.
The Museum of St Albans is also the home of the famous Salaman Collection of trade and craft tools collected by Raphael Salaman, author of the "Dictionary of Woodworking Tools" and the "Dictionary of Leatherworking Tools". This popular display speaks to the non-specialist as well as the enthusiast.
