Grantown Museum tells the story of the people and the building of Grantown-on-Spey.
Burnfield House was built to house the Female School in Grantown which was endowed in 1861. It was bought in 1890 by James Rose Burgess, who was responsible for lighting the Square, temporarily, by electricity in 1894. The house continued to have a variety of uses until, in 1995, it was purchased by the Grantown Museum & Heritage Trust, and opened as a museum and community resource centre for Grantown in April 1999.
There is wheelchair access throughout the museum including ramped entrance and fully accessible WC. Induction Loop Systems are also provided.
