Crooked Lake Cottage sleeps 5 plus cot in 3 bedrooms. It is situated in a valley of ancient woodland through which flows the River Yeo, a tiny tributary of which babbles through the garden.
This secluded, 17th century stone cottage is tucked away in the heart of beautiful Devon countryside, yet is only 15 minutes from the bustling North Devon town of Bideford and glorious North Devon beaches.
The approach to the cottage from the charming lane it overlooks is via a small gate from the parking space. The front door is housed by a covered porch, ideal for coats and boots after a long days walking.
You step into a pretty, low-beamed dining room with a CD player, a dining table to seat 6 and a feature ornamental inglenook fireplace.
One door leads to the lounge overlooking a garden, with low-beamed ceiling, an original open fireplace inset with a multi-fuel burner an fireguard. The room is delightfully furnished with sofa and chairs, TV (Free-serve Satellite), DVD/video.
The lounge opens out into the spacious conservatory, furnished with cane seating, a two-seater sofa, two chairs and views across the garden. Double doors open to a paved and gravel patio area supplied with garden furniture.
The door to the rear of the dining room leads to the lovely fitted pine kitchen with an electric hob and oven, washer/dryer, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dresser, table to seat 5 and access to a lovely garden patio with beautiful set of garden table and chairs, perfect for an early evening drink whilst watching the sun set over the hill that rises beyond the garden hedge.
Up the dog-leg staircase is an attractive master bedroom with a 4ft 6in pine bed, wardrobe,and en-suite bathroom with whirlpool bath, power shower over, basin and WC.
Along the corridor is a spacious single bedroom with large range of fitted cupboards and 3ft bed. There is ample room here to locate the cot if required.
Steps up lead to a twin bedroom with two 3ft iron beds, pine furniture and large picture window offering lovely garden views. There is a family bathroom with bath, electric shower over, basin and WC.
All bedrooms are equipped with dressing tables, bedside lights and radio alarm clocks.
The cottage is surrounded by a stone wall and beautiful mature gardens. To the side there is a parking bay for 2 cars and a gate that leads into the enclosed gardens that surround the cottage at the rear.
A natural running, stream with two bridges is a feature at the rear of the property and sloping lawns, with mature shrubs offer a very private suntrap. Sun loungers, garden furniture and barbecue are provided.
Goshawks, nuthatches and woodpeckers are natural residents of this area, as are badgers and deer which can be seen from time to time from the garden.
