The Stables at The Rookery is a luxurious self catering holiday cottage which can accommodate two adults (plus a baby under six months), situated on the edge of the historic Cotswold town of Malmesbury, Wiltshire.
The Stables is a traditional Cotswold stone building which has been completely renovated using traditional methods and materials, in keeping with its Grade II listing. The exposed oak lintels and naturally contoured stone walls are complemented by the contemporary furnishings and decoration which aim to provide every modern comfort.
The newly-renovated accommodation comprises an open plan living /dining room and kitchen area on the ground floor, with a downstairs bathroom with a roll-top bath and over-bath shower. The stairs lead up to a galleried bedroom with king-size bed under the eaves, made up with Egyptian cotton bedlinen and a Hungarian goose down duvet (a microfibre duvet is available on request).
The kitchen is impressively equipped with gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and practically every implement you could need.
A glazed door leads out to the Stables' own patio area, where you can enjoy a glass of wine or a candlelit evening meal under the stars. There are steps up to the large traditional walled garden of the main house (complete with centuries-old apple trees and a well) which guests are welcome to enjoy.
Our aim is to make our luxury self-catering accommodation in Malmesbury the most perfect relaxing romantic cottage for two. We aim to provide that little bit extra in The Stables. When you arrive, you will be greeted with a welcome tray laden with home-made Aga cakes from The Rookery kitchen and a variety of local produce including wine from the Bow-in-the-Cloud vineyard at nearby Garsdon.
All the main internet grocery providers (Ocado, Tesco, Sainsburys) deliver to The Stables at The Rookery, and if you book your delivery slot for the morning of your arrival, we will be very happy to unpack your shopping for you in advance of your arrival. Please contact us to arrange.
We provide a selection of luxury toiletries for our guests, as well as fluffy white towels and extra-long bathrobes, all from The White Company.
Free Wi-Fi access is provided, along with full hi-definition FreeSat TV and Blu-ray/DVD player.
If you have a baby, you may wish to take advantage of our babysitting service to enjoy an evening out. Please contact us for further details.
A big plus for all our guests is that The Stables is owner-run; indeed we live just next door. We are on hand to welcome you and help you to make the most of your holiday by recommending excellent places to eat and enjoyable excursions. We are there when you need us but promise we don’t intrude!

We are on the A429 just outside Malmesbury, 50 yards outside the 30mph limit signs as you leave Malmesbury on the A429 heading towards the M4.
The nearest train station is Chippenham, followed by a 15 minute taxi ride. |
