Cloth Fair Cottage is a superior wheelchair accessible, one bedroom self-catering holiday cottage, sleeping two persons. It is within the courtyard of three cottages and three ground floor bed and breakfast (B&B) rooms at Rawcliffe House. The cottage is bright and spacious with windows on three sides and has been specifically designed for our less mobile visitors to enjoy a relaxing and independent holiday; everything is on the same level, there are no steps. Access to the cottage is by a purpose built ramped pathway with support railings direct from the adjacent car park. A private, level patio with panoramic, open views is easily accessed from the open plan lounge, dining and kitchen, which is well equipped and practical having one lower work top, lever taps, modern appliances, including hob, oven, microwave and fridge. This room leads onto the bedroom. Outdoor Facilities: Yes. Our nearby self-catering cottages and B&B rooms are surrounded by 42 acres of meadows, woodland and pastures . Although the farm is no longer worked, the fields are grazed by cattle belonging to a local farmer. However, we do look after an assortment of smaller animals much to the delight of our guests including Pygmy Goats, Hens and Chickens, Muscovy and Mallard Ducks, two black Labrador Dogs, two Cats and a friendly Pheasant called Freddie. Local Services: Our holiday accommodation is located just north of the village of Newton-under-Rawcliffe, approximately 6 miles from the bustling market town of Pickering - a perfect location to explore the Yorkshire Coast and North York Moors National Park. We are set in 42 acres of rolling pasture surrounded by wide open spaces and stunning scenery. The nearest village, Newton-under-Rawcliffe has an excellent traditional village inn called the "Mucky Duck - less than 1.5 miles from Rawcliffe House. There is a play area with swings, climbing equipment and an astroturf pitch for football, basketball or tennis. There also is the New Inn at Cropton (4 miles) - well known for its tasty food and refreshing local real ales brewed on-site. The famous steam trains of the North York Moors Railway run between Pickering and Grosmont - the nearest station is about a mile away on foot. The nearest town is Pickering and is well known locally for its excellent restaurants, coffee shops and traditional inns, offering something to eat and drink for every taste and budget. |
