The Old Smiddy Cottage |
|
Property: 3874 | Central Scotland |
|
The Old Smiddy was built in 1862 and was used as a blacksmith's shop until the middle of the 1900s. There is a lot of history surrounding the place itself, which now enjoys modern features, as well as reminders of years gone by.
The Old Smiddy cottage is built over Ballagan Burn, where the Old Smiddy workshop was situated. Cart wheels used to be made at the Smiddy and after they were fired up, they were then dropped down through a trap door to the burn below to cool off.
Until recently the Old Smiddy cottage was used as a very successful B&B and therefore has all the requirements requested by the Tourist Board. Private parking is available and can easily accommodate a car and boat if required. There is also a patio for guest use.
The Old Smiddy cottage is attached to the main dwelling, but is completely separate in every other way.
There are two en-suite bedrooms, a double bedroom which includes a sofa bed, which could be used for one adult, or two children and a twin room with two single beds.
Both rooms have fitted mirror wardrobes, drawer space, electric blankets and clock/radios; both bathrooms have showers and shaver points.
Smoking is not permitted within The Old Smiddy.
