There is colour nearly all year round, and plenty to do for all ages.
Pop into the village shop for newspapers and some provisions, or take a brisk stroll up the gentle hills surrounding the cottage. You are far enough away to have total seclusion yet near enough to a town.
Sandy beaches can be found from less than 30 minutes drive at Sandhead, Garlieston, Luce Bay and Port William.
Mountain biking in the area includes Kirroughtree, and the famous 7Stanes over 400km of trails, spread across 7 trail centres from Glentress to Glentrool, aimed at all levels of mountain bikers from families to experts'. The 7Stanes achieved world-class status in only 6 years. Hire bikes can be delivered to your cottage.
Fly fishing permits available on various nearby Lochs and rivers, sea fishing trips from Cairnryan, Stranraer and Port Patrick. Day boat trips also available.
Come and enjoy outdoor pursuits: horse riding, golfing, shooting, fishing, off road and tank driving, hill walking, mountain biking, sailing, wind surfing, and nature watching.
Tennis and bowling courts are found in most of the villages and towns in the area.
Places to visit include: light houses; ancient monuments including stone circles and castles; gardens and tea rooms; antique and art galleries; various museums including gem rock museum and dolls house museum; cheese maker; ice cream maker; adventure playground; open farms and wildlife parks.
