Attractive 200 year old, converted school house in the heart of the Lake District. Sleeps 6.

The Old School House is an attractive 3 bedroom detached cottage in the popular Lakeland village of Threlkeld nr Keswick. Originally the village school house, the original cottage dates back to the 1780s, and now offers a high standard of accommodation with superb views across the fells and mountains from all windows.

Cosy lounge with colour TV, DVD and CD/hi-fi, separate dining room, kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, drying room for the occasional wet day with washer/dryer, downstairs toilet, 3 bedrooms (2 doubles, 1 twin) The twin room has a washbasin and there is a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower over the bath. Central heating and double glazing.

Ample off the road parking and garage. It has both a front garden and rear patio with garden furniture and extensive views of Blencathra and Clough End. Also, from inside the cottage there are superb views across the fells and mountains from all windows.

Pets by arrangement. Heating, electric, bedding linen all included. No smoking.

Threlkeld village is three miles from Keswick situated at the foot of Blencathra mountain, which is very popular with fell walkers. The village is steeped in history with its church dating back to 1573 and its pubs back to 1688.

The cottage is ideally located for those looking for a picturesque base from which to explore the northern Lakes and fells with many walks and cycling tracks right on the doorstep.

There are lovely riverside walks and an old railway line providing a pleasant way to cycle or walk to Keswick.

There are two good pubs, both serving excellent food, within a short stroll from the cottage. There is also a children's play area nearby. For keen golfers, just across the road is Keswick golf club, which is open to visitors.

The popular market town of Keswick, on the edge of Derwent Water, right in the heart of the English Lake District, has many attractions including a tropical leisure swimming pool with wave machine, 'black hole' slide and well equipped gym, a motor museum, the famous Theatre by the Lake, parks as well as many speciality shops, cafes, cinema, pubs and restaurants.

With its picturesque setting and proximity to Keswick and with Derwent Water, Thirlmere and Bassenthwaite lakes close by, this is a ideal holiday base, from which to explore the breathtaking scenery of the Lake District National Park. The peace and tranquillity of the local area can be enjoyed whatever time of year you visit.

Our weeks run from Saturday to Saturday and we usually let for a full week.
Short breaks can be arranged out of season and at short notice during the high season.
