Beechlands is a good base for exploring the scenic countryside and coastal resorts of this picturesque area.

Walk along the stunning sea cliffs; visit beautiful beaches and the picturesque moorlands covered in miles of purple heather.

The area has a lot to offer: there are woodlands, streams, waterfalls, historic buildings and picturesque villages to discover.

The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway covers 18 scenic miles through the National Park and stops at many traditional villages, including Goathland, Grosmont and Levisham.

There are many places to visit in the area. Nearby coastal resorts are Whitby, Sandsend, Robin Hood's Bay, Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington and Flamborough Head. Further north are the quaint fishing villages of Runswick Bay and Staithes.

Inland there is the beauty of the moors to explore and many villages and small market towns.

A few minutes drive from Beechlands is the popular village of Goathland (Aidensfield), where the TV series Heartbeat was filmed.

There are many walks in the surrounding area, with a waterfall near the Mallyan Spout Hotel and many streams with bridges to cross.

Other traditional villages to visit nearby are Thornton le Dale, Lockton, Levisham, Grosmont, Lealholme, Danby, Rosedale, Farndale and Hutton-le-Hole

A bus stop and train station are five minutes walk from the house, where there are regular services to Whitby, York and Middlesbrough.

In Sleights, within walking distance, there are two pubs, a cafe, shops, Fish & Chip Restaurant, and a popular garden centre with a riverside cafe.
