This becomes the A5, stay on the A5 until, after a short section of dual carriageway, you meet the A5112 / A49 at a roundabout with a garden centre and Esso service station. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A5112 / Hereford Road heading to Shrewsbury / Meole Brace (go through 1 roundabout). By Train Shrewsbury is served by Wrexham & Shropshire trains who offer a direct service from London Marylebone to Shrewsbury, in addition to services from London Euston (via Birmingham New Street or Wolverhampton) offered by Virgin Trains. There are also services from Liverpool, Birmingham, Oxford, Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol. Taxis from the station If you are travelling from Shrewsbury train station there are usually plenty of taxis at the station taxi rank, however, we recommend Central cars who will deliver you safely to us at the B&B for a very reasonable £3.50 or so. Walking from the station If you would prefer to make your way to the B&B on foot, here are some directions that take you a much shorter route than going through the town centre: When you exit the railway station, on the left, behind some telephone boxes, you will see a walkway rising up, the Shrewsbury Castle will be towering above you as you ascend. Once at the top bear left back over the railway track, and through a covered pedestrian walkway. This will bring you out opposite the Dana prison. Turn right onto Victoria St, following the road to the end. On your right you will find a footbridge across the river. Cross over the bridge and follow the footpath next to the playing fields, (this is known as Castlefields) you will come out onto Underdale Road. Just opposite is Tankerville St, walk straight down to the end, here you will find a Spar shop opposite you. Turn right, along Monkmoor Road. The next left is Canon St, Anton House is on the corner. |
