The cottage provides a useful base for walking Glyndwrs Way, Offas Dyke path, Mortimers Trail, Wye Valley Walk, Jack Mytton's Way and the Shropshire Way.

Local places of interest include Ludlow, Hereford and Hay on Wye, Presteigne Brecon Beacons and Elan Valley.

Local events include a vintage car hill climb in October, the Presteigne Festival of classical music in August and the Cycle event based in Knighton in October.
