Stanway Water Garden |
||||||||||
|
One of the finest 18th century water gardens, restored in 1998, Stanway lies beneath the 700 foot high Cotswold escarpment.
Its grand formal Canal, with 300 foot high fountain, stands
on a great grass terrace overlooking the Jacobean manor house and is fed by a long Cascade issuing from a circular pool behind the Pyramid.
These water features, together with the surrounding parkland, planted with avenues and fine specimen trees, the wide lawns, wild flower, grass mounds, orchards and walled garden, create a landscape as peaceful and beautiful as any in Britain.
