Tarbert Tourist Information |
|
Tarbert is Scotland's greatest natural Harbour, guarded by Robert the Bruce's Castle, scene today of the spectacular annual yacht series. With a maritime history stretching back centuries, through the period of the famous 'Puffers' and turbine steamers of Victorian and Edwardian times, Tarbert is still an active fishing port and base for important ferry links. The village derives its name, 'Tairbeart' from the narrow isthmus separating the West and East Lochs.
