Journey to the north of London and stumble upon Enfield's best kept secret. See the local wildlife on a beautiful lake, stroll through wildflower meadows and relax under a magnificent cedar tree. One of London's most significant cultural landscapes, Forty Hall & Estate is the heritage crown jewel of the London Borough of Enfield.
The Forty Hall Estate dates back to the medieval period. The historic house, built in 1629 for Sir Nicholas Rainton is open to the public Wednesday to Sunday 11am to 4pm and hosts exhibitions and activities throughout the year as well as regular guided historical tours.
The surrounding parkland and country estate within a conservation area of native woodland, lawns and an ornamental lake provides an idyllic environment for outdoor activities, walking and picnics. Visitors can enjoy food and refreshments at the adjacent Courtyard Cafe.

Directions

| Forty Hall is located in the north of the London Borough of Enfield, the northern-most borough of London. The hall and formal park are located on the top of Forty Hill, a level gravel plateau standing above the flood plain of the Lea to the east, and the valley of the Turkey Brook to the north and west. The park slopes down into the valley, where the remains of old ponds lie on the London Clay. A loop in the former course of the New River forms the boundary of much of the estate, though this has since been re-routed to the east. To the north are Whitewebbs and Myddelton House. The road to the east was formerly the main route from Enfield to Waltham Cross, but traffic has been re-routed towards to A10. |
