Things to do in Ronachan, Argyll and Bute

Meaning 'Place of the Seals', Ronachan point is a convenient stopping place and viewpoint, where frequently you will see seals basking on the rocks just off shore.

The view of the Paps of Jura is particularly fine from here. Rhunahaorine Peninsula just south of here is an important winter feeding area for large numbers of geese of various breeds.

Rare plants are to be found near the shore. In May1647, this was the scene of a battle, where General David Leslie defeated the MacDonald forces. Largie Castle was razed, and the infamous massacre of Dunaverty followed.
