Keeper's Cottage,is a very cosy & comfortable cottage of character for 2 to 4 people in Gillamoor - an unspoiled North York Moors National Park working farm village.

The cottage is set in 2 acres of grounds with 2 paddocks and an orchard and also has a private garden with outdoor seating & BBQ.

There are wide views across our own paddock to the Howardian Hills in the distance. Yet we are right in the village centre, overlooking the village green and only 50yds from the Royal Oak, our quiet country pub & restaurant serving excellent food wine & beers.

Although perched on the edge of the North York Moors, Gillamoor has easy access to Kirkbymoorside (3 miles), Pickering (10 Miles) & Helmsley (8 miles) where there are a variety of food shops and supermarkets for general provisions. Helpful owners live next door.

The North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Heritage Coast (Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay) form the regional setting for Keeper's Cottage.

In season, Farndale's show of daffodils and The Moors' cover of heather are irresistible attractions for visitors from the four corners of the world.

This is walking and cycling country which is difficult to better anywhere in Britain. Historic York is within an easy hours drive and closer, you will find a host of picturesque market towns and tourist attractions to visit.

Keepers Cottage is a conversion of the former stable and barn, completed in 1985, retaining many original features of exposed stonework & beams.

The cottage is furnished & equipped to a high standard. We are inspected annually by the English Tourist Council under their Quality Assurance Scheme and this year (2012) hold their 4 star rating - visitors may book with complete confidence.

There is off-road parking for two cars right outside the cottage door & all rooms are on the ground floor.

++ Bathroom - WC , wash-basin & full size bath. Spacious walk-in shower with Mira Excel mixer providing luxury showering at mains water pressure. Electric shaver point. Central heating.

Gillamoor is on the southern edge of the North York Moors 3 miles north of Kirkbymoorside from the A170

From the roundabout on the A170 at Kirkbymoorside, where Gillamoor is signposted 2 3/4miles (next to Ryedale Garage), turn into the town and drive up the main street to a mini roundabout at the top end of the town. Here take the first exit left. Follow the minor road for just over 2 miles and arrive in Gillamoor. After passing the village sign and 2 sharp bends, you will find Southlands & Keepers Cottage about 100yds along on your left after the 'school' roadsign. We are right in the village centre, next to the school and 50yds from the Royal Oak pub (rear entrance), which is just across the road.
