The bedrooms at Smithy Cottage offer uninterrupted beautiful views, looking out across farm grazing land; during parts of the year you will see the dairy cows up close and the bunnies will entertain you while they play chase.
Our bedrooms have been individually designed to ensure our guests have a relaxing and comfortable stay. The bedrooms are fitted with oak furniture in keeping with the cottage style of our home.
Wood flooring throughout offers a traditional feel, but with the modern twist of under floor heating, which provides thermostatically controlled comfort.
A full English breakfast or lighter option, can be enjoyed in the conservatory in the midst of uninterrupted countryside.
Smithy cottage is only five minutes from the M6 motorway, making it an ideal stopover, when travelling into the borders and Scotland.
We welcome walkers and cyclists and can provide tailor made services such as packed lunches, drying boots and clothing and locked storage for bikes.
By prior arrangement we can provide a pick-up-drop-off service, from main line railway and bus stations at nearby ,or Carlisle and also to and from local restaurants and hostelries.

Seasons Open: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.
Price per room per night (breakfast included), based on 2 persons sharing. Double Room £75. Twin Room £75. Please enquire for single occupancy tariff and availability. Special winter offer: 3 nights for the price of 2, (valid from Monday to Thursday until 10th February 2011). Check in is between 4 & 6pm and we ask that guests vacate their rooms by 10.30 on day of departure. If you will be arriving after 6pm please let us know so that we can arrange our evening accordingly. |

Location of Smithy Cottage
We are approximately 7 miles from Penrith where the A66 meets the M6 and are therefore within easy reach of the Lake District National Park. We are also within easy reach of Carlisle city centre. Rail links Main line stations at Penrith and Carlisle - transport up can be arranged. Cycling 2 miles off the official Coast to Coast route. Directions to Smithy Cottage From junction 41 of the M6 motorway take the B5305 signposted to Wigton. Follow the road past Hutton-in-the Forest country house; after a sharp right hand bend in the road you will see Upfront Gallery on the left hand side soon followed by a sign post to New Rent. Smithy Cottage is on the left hand side approximately 50 metres after this sign post. See Map. |
