Located centrally within the quiet, little known corner of Cumbria known as the Eden Valley. North End Farmhouse provides a beautiful setting overlooking the Pennines for either a few days break or just a stopover if travelling north or south to or from Scotland.

Our 17th century restored Westmorland longhouse provides very comfortable accommodation completely separate from our own accommodation in very spacious bedrooms with modern en suite bathroom facilities.

Guests are welcomed with home- made cakes and scones, tea or coffee, either to be served in the large garden or in the guests lounge where, during the colder periods, there would be a log fire burning in the inglenook.

The guest rooms are provided with king size beds or as a twin bedded room as required with television, DVD and tea and coffee making facilities and, most importantly, comfortable armchairs. In the lounge guests will find a wealth of reading material, maps and guides together with T/V and stereo facilities.

Cumbria is renowned for a wealth of local produce and our breakfasts and evening meals will include as many local ingredients as possible. These are served in the Garden Room with extensive views over Cross Fell, the highest point of the Pennines. Nearer to home you may spot the red squirrel or a tree creeper in the garden. Evening meals by prior arrangement or a supper tray; packed lunches also.

Surrounded by the Pennines, the Howgills and the east Lakeland fells the Eden Valley is a beautiful and varied area to discover. The River Eden rises above the wild Mallerstang Valley to travel through beautiful villages, spectacular wild scenery and historic market towns until it reaches the Solway Firth on the borders of Scotland and England. Within easy travelling distance can be found Hadrian's Wall, Ullswater with its lake steamers, the historic market towns of Appleby, Kirkby Stephen and Penrith, and numerous gentle and not so gentle walks and rambles.

We will be pleased to advise on possible day trips or walks ranging the sedate to the 'top of Cross Fell!'

Mary & David look forward to making you very welcome here at North End.
