Middle Farmhouse is a non-working farmhouse situated in the quiet rural hamlet of Hewish which is 2 miles south of the Georgian town of Crewkerne, on the picturesque Somerset/Dorset borders with Devon just 6 miles away.
Set in hilly countryside, the area has lovely views and is ideal for walking, with horse-riding, golf, fishing and llama trekking nearby.
Our spacious rooms are in a newly converted barn (to the rear of the farmhouse) which boast original beams and other rustic features. Both rooms have a comfortable sofa, wardrobe and ample drawer storage, and are en-suite with double size shower, bidet etc., television DVD/CD, generous hospitality tray, with selection of teas, coffees, chocolate drink, biscuits and varied fruit basket.
Breakfast is normally served from 8.00am in our garden room across the courtyard and comprises fruit juices, cereals, full cooked breakfast of organic, locally sourced products, where possible, with homemade preserves and a choice of teas or coffee. Advance notice of special dietary needs appreciated.
The town of Crewkerne has numerous pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. The 15th century church is well worth a visit. The railway station has regular services to London - Waterloo (journey time 2.5 hours), Exeter and Plymouth. Transport to and from the station can be arranged,if required.
There are many places of interest and National Trust Properties within a reasonable distance including; Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast, being just 14 miles, Forde Abbey - Medieval monastery with stunning gardens, Montacute House - Magnificent Elizabethan house with portrait gallery, garden and park, Barrington Court - Tudor manor with beautiful Jekyll inspired gardens, and many more.
Please note that due to the hilly location, Middle Farmhouse has a few steps to negotiate.
