Wolsingham is often called the 'Gateway to Weardale'. Originally a Saxon settlement but became for many centuries the market town for lower Weardale. A place of historic and scenic interest Wolsingham is in a conservation area and surrounded by superb countryside.

Steeped in history, with many interesting buildings. Nearby Tunstall Reservoir, also a centre for angling, is delightful with wooded banks, picnic areas and log cabins.
