Newlyn is the largest fishing port in England and Wales and lies south of Penzance. The colony of artists who gathered to paint in Newlyn, included Dame Laura Knight, the Irish artist Stanhope Forbes and Frank Bramley, became known as The Newlyn School. Newlyn Art Gallery, presents a changing programme of local national and international contemporary art including painting, sculpture, installations and photography plus a parallel education programme of tours, talks, workshops and art classes.
